About Me

Hi there! Ok...this is me. My name is Katherine, I live in Berkshire (near London) in the UK. Nearly 2 years ago I had decided that enough was enough and that it was time I did something about my weight. I was weighing in at 222lbs and was very unhappy, about 6 months before I had weighed in at my heaviest a whopping 231lbs and was just in a spiral of bad eating, comfort food and no exercise. Over the next 2 years I successfully got to my original target weight of 182lbs however during my weight loss I realised that I was wasn't going to be happy at 182lbs and I wanted to lose more, I researched what my healthy weight range would be and decided to aim for the higher end of 161lbs.  I really hope that once I reach 161lbs I will be happy and confident with my body. You can read my journey from 222lbs to 182lbs at: www.notadietwayoflife.blogspot.co.uk/

I don't want to dwell too much on the past and want to look to the future, I know that these last 21lbs will be the hardest to lose. I have tried so many things in the past and tired so many diets and eating habits but although put together it has got me to where I am, I haven't found anything that really sticks or works for me. I don't want a diet to rule my life and want to find something that is truly a way of life and can fit in with my everyday living and family.

I am adapting a Mediterranean way of life, I believe, out of everything I have tried, that this is the best way to be. The food is fresh and healthy and it follows everything that everybody is telling us...stay away from processed foods and sugars and keep carbs to a low...we own a holiday home in Spain so go out there quite often which helps keep me motivated as well as being a close reminder of the 'Bikini ready body'. If you look at so many Mediterranean's they are healthy, live long, thin and have a healthy balanced life in all areas...so why wouldn't you want to live like them. Keep an eye out for lots of yummy Mediterranean recipes that I will be trying out...

I am also moving my exercise into a new chapter as well, I have gone from a couch potato to a exercise lover but have not really incorporated weights before as wanted to concentrate on high energy workouts. I am now at the stage where I know weights are going to add the boost I need to give me the toned body I want. I used to be a member of the gym but sadly due to money being tight I have cancelled my membership, I am not worried though as there are so many things out there that allow you to exercise at home or out in the open air, England doesn't have the best weather but I can push through the cold and the rain for a quick run! I am using Kettlebells as weights as believe them to be really versatile and fun to use as well as the trusty skipping rope, always a favorite for a good overall workout. My main inspiration for workout videos is of course YouTube, my favorite videos are  those from the 'Tone It Up' girls and FitSugar. I have included a link to my YouTube channel so you can check out the fitness videos I am working out to at the moment... hope you find is useful!

So that's it in a nutshell, looking forward to it all beginning and looking forward to getting to the finishing line!
